Description
The issue allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via directory traversal sequences in a filename in a "GET FILE" message. This is related to a directory traversal vulnerability in OmniInet.exe in the Backup Client Service.
Recommendations
For HP OpenView Storage Data Protector versions 6.00 through 6.11, consider restricting access to the "GET FILE" message to minimize the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, limit the ability to read arbitrary files via directory traversal sequences in filenames.
