Description
The issue concerns the IMAP-over-SSL implementation, which fails to verify X.509 certificates from SSL servers. This allows man-in-the-middle attackers to spoof IMAP servers and obtain sensitive information via a crafted certificate.
Recommendations
For getmail versions 4.0.0 through 4.43.0, update to a version that properly verifies X.509 certificates to prevent man-in-the-middle attacks.
