Description
The issue might allow attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unspecified other impact via a crafted .rle file. This is related to "Data from Faulting Address controls Branch Selection starting at ntdll 77df0000!memcmp+0x0000000000000018" with RPC initialization.
Recommendations
For XnView Classic for Windows version 2.40, consider avoiding the use of crafted .rle files until a fix is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict the processing of .rle files to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
