Description
The issue allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted .fpx file. It is related to data from a faulting address controlling subsequent write address starting at Xfpx!gffGetFormatInfo+0x000000000002bfd5.
Recommendations
For XnView Classic for Windows version 2.40, consider avoiding the use of .fpx files until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict the execution of crafted files to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
