Description
The issue is related to the Serialization component and is difficult to exploit, allowing an unauthenticated attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise the system. Successful attacks can result in a partial denial of service (partial DOS). This issue can be exploited by using APIs in the specified component, for example, through a web service that supplies data to the APIs. It also applies to Java deployments that load and run untrusted code and rely on the Java sandbox for security.
Recommendations
For Oracle Java SE versions 8u421, 8u421-perf, 11.0.24, 17.0.12, 21.0.4, 23, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue.
For Oracle GraalVM for JDK versions 17.0.12, 21.0.4, 23, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue.
For Oracle GraalVM Enterprise Edition versions 20.3.15, 21.3.11, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Serialization component until a patch is available.
Avoid using APIs in the Serialization component until the issue is resolved.
