Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to an uninitialized value in the caif seqpkt sendmsg function, which is defined in sys sendmsg. When nr segs equals zero in iovec from user, the object msg->msg iter.iov is uninitialized stack memory. This can be resolved by using nr segs to judge whether the message has data buffers. The vulnerability was identified by KMSAN, which reported an uninitialized value in caif seqpkt sendmsg+0x693/0xf60 at net/caif/caif socket.c:542.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
