Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue concerns a malfunction in the I2C TRE sequence in the Linux kernel, specifically in the
qcom-geni driver. This malfunction leads to timeouts during I2C read operations in GSI mode due to an incorrect TRE sequence. The TRE sequence is a critical component in the transfer process, consisting of three types: CONFIG TRE, GO TRE, and DMA TRE. These elements contain essential information such as slave address, clock divider, DMA address, and data size. The correct sequence, as per Qualcomm's Hardware Programming Guide for RX only transfers, should be CONFIG TRE, followed by GO TRE, and then DMA TRE. However, the current implementation incorrectly sequences these elements, resulting in errors.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
