Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description:
The issue is related to a buffer overflow in the phonet component of the Linux kernel. The
rtm phonet notify() function has a bug in skb allocation. The fill route() function stores three components in the skb: struct rtmsg, RTA DST (u8), and RTA OIF (u32). Therefore, rtm phonet notify() should use NLMSG ALIGN(sizeof(struct rtmsg)) + nla total size(1) + nla total size(4). This vulnerability may allow an attacker to cause a denial of service.Recommendations:
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
