Description The issue is related to mishandling Input Validation. A proof of concept (PoC) has been published for a critical vulnerability in Lexmark printers, which allows for privilege escalation. There have been reports of this vulnerability being exploited, with some users successfully dumping admin hashes but unable to get a reverse shell. Others have mentioned exploiting the vulnerability using recent CVEs for remote code execution (RCE).
Recommendations As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the vulnerable Input Validation function until a patch is available. Restrict access to the vulnerable Lexmark devices to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the vulnerable devices until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
