Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
TP-Link Omada ER605 versions (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is caused by a heap-based buffer overflow in the TP-Link Omada ER605 router's firmware, specifically in the handling of Comexe DDNS responses. This allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code in the context of root. The vulnerability can be exploited by network-adjacent attackers without requiring authentication, but only if the device is configured to use the Comexe DDNS service. The flaw exists due to the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a fixed-length heap-based buffer.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
