**Description**
The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, specifically a packet loop, via crafted UDP DNS responses. This is due to a problem in the common startup.cc component of the PowerDNS Authoritative Server.
**Recommendations**
For versions prior to 2.9.22.5, update to version 2.9.22.5 or later.
For versions 3.x prior to 3.0.1, update to version 3.0.1 or later.
