Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Cisco Webex Network Recording Player versions (affected versions not specified) Cisco Webex Player versions (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is caused by a buffer overflow in memory, allowing an attacker to execute arbitrary code by sending a specially crafted ARF or WRF file. The vulnerability exists because the affected software improperly validates Advanced Recording Format (ARF) and Webex Recording Format (WRF) files. An attacker could exploit this by sending a malicious ARF or WRF file via a link or email attachment and persuading the user to open the file with the affected software.
Recommendations For Cisco Webex Network Recording Player, update to a version that properly validates ARF and WRF files to prevent exploitation. For Cisco Webex Player, update to a version that properly validates ARF and WRF files to prevent exploitation. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the opening of ARF and WRF files with the affected software until a patch is available.
