Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to a parameter misconfiguration in the Linux kernel, specifically in the arm64: dts: qcom: msm8998 component. The entry/exit latency and minimum residency in state for the idle states of MSM8998 were incorrectly set, which could lead to SoC instability when CPU scaling is enabled. This instability may cause random, error-less sudden reboots and/or lockups. The misconfiguration occurred because the timings were written for CPU sleep, but the min-residency-us parameter was miscalculated. The power collapse states are setting PC on both the CPU cluster and the L2 cache, which have different timings.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
