Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
The Sidebar Widgets by CodeLights plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.4
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the
Extra CSS class parameter due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This allows authenticated attackers with administrator-level permissions and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The issue only affects multi-site installations and installations where unfiltered html has been disabled.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 1.4, consider disabling the
Extra CSS class parameter until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to administrator-level permissions to minimize the risk of arbitrary web script injection. Found an issue in the description? Have something to add? Feel free to write us 👾
