Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A task hang issue due to a deadlock case was reported by syzbot, where it is waiting for the folio lock of a cached folio that will be used for cache I/Os. The issue is caused by handling overlapped pclusters in specially crafted images. Managed folios containing compressed data are marked as up-to-date and then unlocked immediately when compressed I/Os are complete. However, the current code mis-arranges z erofs fill bio vec() and BIO submission, causing unexpected BIO waits. To avoid dependency issues, separate BIOs should be used if physical blocks are not submitted in the incremental order.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
