Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: Tenda AC8 version 16.03.34.06
Description: A critical vulnerability was found in the function formSetRebootTimer of the file /goform/SetSysAutoRebbotCfg. The manipulation of the argument rebootTime leads to a stack-based buffer overflow. The attack can be initiated remotely. The exploit has been disclosed to the public and may be used. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way. Another vulnerable function is compare parentcontrol time in the file /goform/saveParentControlInfo, which is also related to a stack-based buffer overflow. This can allow an attacker to impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information by sending a specially crafted POST request.
Recommendations: As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the formSetRebootTimer function and restricting access to the /goform/SetSysAutoRebbotCfg and /goform/saveParentControlInfo API endpoints until a patch is available. Avoid using the rebootTime argument in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
