Description The issue arises from incorrect permissions assignment in the Universal Forwarder for Windows Installation directory, which by default is C:Program FilesSplunkUniversalForwarder. This allows non-administrator users on the machine to access the directory and all its contents. The problem occurs during a new installation of or an upgrade to an affected version.

Recommendations For versions prior to 9.4.2, update to version 9.4.2 or later to resolve the issue. For versions prior to 9.3.4, update to version 9.3.4 or later to resolve the issue. For versions prior to 9.2.6, update to version 9.2.6 or later to resolve the issue. For versions prior to 9.1.9, update to version 9.1.9 or later to resolve the issue.
