Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A flaw exists in the vfio/type1 component of the Linux kernel where an underflow of
locked vm can occur during an exec() operation within a vfio container. This happens when a container is preserved across an exec() call, resulting in a loss of count from existing DMA mappings. Subsequently, unmapping a DMA mapping can cause locked vm to underflow, leading to a failure with an ENOMEM error in the account locked vm function during a subsequent DMA map request. The issue is addressed by saving the memory map (mm) at the time a DMA mapping is created and using that saved mm for adjusting locked vm, rather than re-acquiring the task's mm.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
