Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A flaw exists in the Linux kernel's networking subsystem related to the management data input/output (mdio) interface. Specifically, the device node to regmap() function within airoha mdio probe() can return an error pointer if regmap initialization fails. The driver currently stores this pointer without validation, potentially leading to a system crash if the pointer is subsequently dereferenced. The issue is addressed by adding an IS ERR() check to validate the pointer and returning an appropriate error code, enhancing the robustness of the probe path.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
