VectorAV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 6.17.0-rc7
Description An issue was identified in the Linux kernel's networking subsystem, specifically within the Texas Instruments (TI) netcp component. The knav dma open channel function did not consistently return NULL on error, leading to potential inconsistencies and a crash in netcp free navigator resources. The inconsistent error handling could result in an alignment exception. The fix standardizes the error handling by ensuring the function returns NULL in all error scenarios. The impact is limited to the netcp core.c module.
Recommendations Update to version 6.17.0-rc7 or later.
