Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the Linux kernel related to the
hdm probe() function within the most USB subsystem. An early error path in hdm probe() could call put device() before the device was fully initialized, leading to a device core warning and an attempt to release an uninitialized kobject. The fix involves directly freeing the memory allocated for the private structure instead of calling put device() on the uninitialized device. This resolves the warning and corrects the pre-initialization error path.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
