Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux Kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The Linux kernel contains a flaw in the scheduler related to deferred interrupt handling in PREEMPT RT kernels. Specifically, a potential deadlock situation can occur within the deferred irq workfn() function when the returned request queue (rq) is the current CPU’s request queue. This happens because the function may execute in a context where interrupts are not disabled, leading to a recursive lock acquisition on the request queue lock (rq-> lock) if an interrupt occurs. The issue is addressed by using IRQ WORK INIT HARD() instead of init irq work() to initialize the deferred interrupt work, ensuring the function is always invoked in a hard interrupt context.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
