Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.4.0-rc6-btrfs-next-134+
Description
The Linux kernel contains a flaw in the btrfs file system related to race conditions when deleting quota roots from the dirty cow roots list. Specifically, when disabling quotas, the quota root is deleted from the list without proper synchronization using the
trans lock which protects it. This unsynchronized list manipulation can lead to failures if there are concurrent operations modifying the list, such as adding a root with ctree.c:add root to dirty list(). This can result in a general protection fault.Recommendations
Update to a version newer than 6.4.0-rc6-btrfs-next-134+.
