Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.4.0-rc6-btrfs-next-134+
Description
The Linux kernel contained a flaw in the btrfs subsystem related to the handling of free space tree deletion. Specifically, the code lacked proper synchronization when removing a free space root from the dirty cow roots list, leading to a potential race condition. This unsynchronized list manipulation could occur during concurrent operations, such as adding a root to the list, potentially causing system failures.
Recommendations
Update to Linux kernel version 6.4.0-rc6-btrfs-next-134+ or a later version to address this issue.
