Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A memory leak and potential VM freeze can occur in the Linux kernel when handling grant entries used by remote domains. Specifically, the issue arises when a frontend unmaps a window before the backend unmaps the grant, leading to a large deferred list of grant entries. This is particularly relevant for systems like Qubes OS utilizing the X Window System. The vulnerability can cause significant performance degradation and instability. The number of grant entries freed in each iteration is now tunable via a module parameter, with a default of 10.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
