Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A flaw exists in the Linux kernel’s maple tree implementation, specifically within the mas wr end piv() function. The issue involves a potential out-of-bounds access when determining the write offset end bounds for the pivot array. This can occur if a write operation extends to the last slot in a node, leading to an incorrect offset calculation and potential access to memory outside the allocated bounds of the pivot array. The problem may affect new users of the mapletree functionality if backported to earlier kernels.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
