Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.1.0-rc3+
Description
The Linux kernel contains a flaw in the driver core, specifically a potential null-pointer dereference in the
device add() function. This issue occurs when a device is added, and an error occurs during the device binding process. Specifically, if dev->driver is set, the error path in device add() calls bus remove device(), which can lead to a null-pointer dereference while accessing knode driver because device bind driver() has not been called yet. The root cause is that dev->driver is not set to null in the error path before calling bus remove device().Recommendations
Update to a version later than 6.1.0-rc3+.
