Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Quasar Framework versions prior to 2.23.3
Description
In the
Platform.parseSSR() function within ui/src/plugins/platform/Platform.js, an unbounded User-Agent request header is passed to the getMatch() function. The browser-detection expressions in this process use greedy captures combined with repeated unbounded scans. Because the Platform plugin is part of autoInstalledPlugins, this parsing happens before routing for every Server-Side Rendering (SSR) request. An unauthenticated request containing repeated version tokens without a terminating Safari token can trigger super-linear backtracking, which blocks the Node.js event loop and delays all other SSR requests. Super-linear backtracking is a condition where the time taken to process a regular expression increases exponentially relative to the input size, leading to a denial of service.Recommendations
Update Quasar Framework to version 2.23.3.
