In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
perf: Fix race between perf event exit task() and perf pending task()
A race condition exists between perf event exit task() and
perf pending task() during begin new exec().
During begin new exec(), perf event exit task() may be called, and the
PF EXITING flag is not set on task. So perf sigtrap() continues to execute
and triggers WARN ON ONCE(event->ctx->task != current).
Since both task exit and exec paths can call perf event exit task() which
sets ctx->task to TASK TOMBSTONE, fix this by explicitly checking if
event->ctx->task equals TASK TOMBSTONE and dropping the redundant
PF EXITING check.
