Description A flaw exists in the Snort 3 Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) Detection Engine due to incomplete error checking during the parsing of GRE packets. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit this by sending a specially crafted GRE packet to a targeted device, causing the Snort 3 Detection Engine to restart unexpectedly. This results in a Denial of Service (DoS) condition and an interruption of packet inspection.
