Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the ksmbd module where the system holds the ci->m lock read lock while waiting for a lease break acknowledgment in the wait for break ack() function. When a cifs.ko client closes a deferred handle, the opinfo del() function (called via close id del oplock()) attempts to acquire the ci->m lock write lock. This creates a deadlock situation where the close path blocks on the read lock held by the waiting thread, forcing the process to wait for the full OPLOCK WAIT TIME timeout of 35 seconds. This occurs during the execution of the smb break all levII oplock() function.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
