Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Container versions prior to 1.5.0
Description An attacker with write access to the filesystem of a container k8s cluster container can inject an exec credential plugin into the /etc/kubernetes/admin.conf file. When a user pulls the cluster's kubeconfig onto a macOS host using container k8s write-config or create and subsequently executes kubectl, the plugin runs as the host user. This allows the attacker to escalate filesystem access within an untrusted Linux container to arbitrary command execution on the host machine.
Recommendations Update to version 1.5.0.
