Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 6.17.0-rc7-CI DRM 17270-g7644974e648c+
Description The Linux kernel drm/vgem-fence subsystem contained a flaw where a timer used to expire a vgem fence could lead to a deadlock. This occurred when the timer expired in an interrupt request (IRQ) context, which is unsafe without proper synchronization. The issue was demonstrated in Intel DRM CI trybot testing. The deadlock involved a scenario where the timer delete sync() function was called on the fence release, potentially leading to inconsistent lock states.
Recommendations Update to version 6.17.0-rc7-CI DRM 17270-g7644974e648c+ or a later version that includes the fix.
