Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A flaw exists in the Linux kernel related to kexec functionality on PowerPC architectures. Specifically, if Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT) is disabled or partially enabled, attempting to reboot with a new kernel image via kexec can lead to issues when waking offline CPUs. This is because the add cpu() function may fail due to cpu bootable() returning false for CPUs failing the cpu smt thread allowed() check, or for non-primary threads when SMT is disabled. The issue is resolved by enabling SMT and resetting the number of SMT threads before waking up CPUs.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
