Description A deadlock can occur in the bio completion path within the process context, such as in dm-verity. This happens when the path calls decompression directly to minimize scheduling latencies, which may subsequently call the vm map ram() function with GFP KERNEL. Under conditions of insufficient memory, vm map ram() can trigger memory swapping I/O, leading to a deadlock in submit bio wait because the bio list is already initialized.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
