Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A race condition exists between the
gether disconnect() and eth stop() functions. If eth stop() is triggered concurrently while gether disconnect() is tearing down endpoints, eth stop() may attempt to access a cleared endpoint descriptor, resulting in a NULL pointer dereference. Since eth stop() crashes while holding the dev->lock, the thread executing gether disconnect() cannot acquire the lock and enters an infinite spin, leading to a hardlockup. The issue is caused by the delayed clearing of the dev->port usb variable in gether disconnect().Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
