Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the rz-mtu3-cnt counter where the Runtime PM (Power Management) counter is incremented or decremented every time the sysfs enable file is written to. Writing 0 to this file multiple times causes the Runtime PM usage count to underflow, leading to hardware registers being accessed while clocks are off within the
rz mtu3 terminate counter() function to disable a channel that is already disabled. Conversely, writing 1 multiple times increments the usage count repeatedly, requiring an equal number of 0 writes to reset it. Additionally, writing 0 while PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) is in progress stops the PWM without the counter owning the underlying MTU3 channel.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
