Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the ACPI processor component where the cpuidle driver check in the acpi processor start() function is outdated. Due to changes that moved idle driver registration to acpi processor driver init(), the acpi processor power init() function no longer registers an idle driver. Consequently, calling acpi processor power init() without a cpuidle driver can lead to a NULL pointer dereference—a condition where the software attempts to read from a memory address that is not valid—within the cpuidle register device() function.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
