Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the tracing ring-buffer where the
rb read data buffer() function fails to verify the event length before using it to access the next index. Because this function validates potentially corrupted ring buffers, an incorrect event length can cause the calculation of the next event address (e + len) to point to an invalid memory location, potentially leading to invalid memory access during boot.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
