Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A null pointer dereference can occur in the
ceph handle auth reply() function within libceph. This happens when a message of type 'CEPH MSG AUTH REPLY' contains zero values for both the protocol and result. If ac->negotiating is true and ac->protocol is greater than zero, the system sets ac->protocol to 0 and ac->ops to NULL. Because the subsequent check for ac->protocol != protocol returns false, the init protocol() function is not called. This leads to a crash when ac->ops->handle reply() is executed while ac->ops remains NULL.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
