Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
openSUSE Tumbleweed versions prior to kernel-devel-7.0.11-1.1
Description
A crash occurs in the probing routine of the rtw88 driver when the 8821CE device is installed on a system where the device is on a root bus. This happens because the
pci upstream bridge() function returns NULL in such PCI topologies, and the system fails to verify the existence of the bridge before applying a specific workaround.Recommendations
Update to a version of the Linux kernel where the
pci upstream bridge() check is implemented.
Update to kernel-devel-7.0.11-1.1 or a newer version for openSUSE Tumbleweed.Exploit
