Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A bug exists in the rebalance children() function within the dm-thin component. When an internal btree node contains a single entry, the system attempts to copy all btree entries from the child node to the parent node and subsequently decrements the child's reference count. If the child node is shared (possessing a reference count greater than 1), it is not freed, leading to two pointers for each grandchild node without a corresponding increase in the grandchildren's reference counts. This discrepancy causes reference counts to mismatch the actual number of pointers, resulting in "device mapper: space map common: unable to decrement block" errors.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
