Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Quest Bot versions prior to 1.0.3
Description The software contains a privileged deploy workflow that executes after an unprivileged build workflow. The build workflow triggers on pull requests, while the deploy workflow uses the head sha of the triggering workflow to build a Docker image and initiate production deployment. An attacker can exploit this by opening a pull request from a branch named main, causing the deploy workflow to treat the pull request as deployable. This allows the execution of attacker-controlled commits within a privileged deployment context, potentially leading to the deployment of malicious containers and the compromise of the production bot.
Recommendations Update to version 1.0.3.
