Description An issue exists in the PPPoE driver where the generic PPP layer function ppp input() accepts Protocol Field Compression (PFC) frames, despite PFC not being recommended for PPPoE. If an attacker or a malfunctioning peer sends a frame with a compressed 1-byte protocol field, the PPP payload shifts by one byte. This results in a 4-byte misalignment of the network header, which can trigger unaligned access exceptions on certain hardware architectures.
