Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A use-after-free issue exists in the mt76 wireless driver for the mt7996 PCI chip. A race condition occurs when the chip is detaching; the
mt7996 coredump unregister() function releases mt7996 crash data, but the dump work item may still be running or pending. This leads to a crash when the mt7996 mac dump work() function attempts to dereference the already freed crash data.Recommendations
As a temporary workaround, restrict the use of the
mt7996 mac dump work() function until a patch is applied.
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Exploit
