Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the split huge pmd locked() function where the file or shmem Resident Set Size (RSS) counter is updated after the PMD mapping's folio reference is dropped. If the folio put() function drops the final reference, the mm counter file() function may subsequently read the state of a freed folio through folio test swapbacked(), potentially leading to a use-after-free scenario.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
