Description
A buffer overflow occurs in the
ftype() routine within the extension/readdir.c file. This flaw can lead to a program crash and potentially allow for arbitrary code execution.Recommendations
Update gawk to a version later than 5.4.0.
As a temporary mitigation, restrict the use of the
ftype() routine in extension/readdir.c until the update is applied.Fix
