Description A heap buffer overflow occurs in the cat() function within cat.c. This issue allows an attacker to corrupt heap memory in the ntfscat binary by reading a specially crafted malicious NTFS image. A heap buffer overflow is a condition where a program writes more data to a heap-allocated memory block than it can hold, potentially leading to crashes or arbitrary code execution.
Recommendations Update to version 2026.2.25 or later.
