Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the Network File System server (nfsd) where the server fails to rotate the write verifier
nn->writeverf when deferred writeback errors are detected via the filemap check wb err() function within nfsd vfs write() and nfsd commit(). This failure allows clients with UNSTABLE write data to receive an unchanged verifier during a COMMIT operation, leading them to incorrectly assume that data is durable when it has actually been silently dropped due to writeback failure.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
