Description A potential deadlock exists in the netfs component when operating in write-through mode. The issue occurs within the netfs advance writethrough() function, where a failure to consistently unlock the supplied folio and mark it dirty if not written to the end can lead to synchronization conflicts. Specifically, premature writeback can cause a deadlock against mmapped reads and writes. The system relies on inode->i rwsem and ictx->wb lock to prevent concurrent truncation, fallocation, and direct I/O (DIO) operations while managing flushing and writeback processes.
